Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today
I want to be a part of it – New York, New York…
… If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere
It’s up to you – New York, New York
So go the lyrics of one of the great, classic songs from Frank Sinatra. What a city, indeed. I’m very excited to be in the “Big Apple” this week for two of the most important media interviews of my life.
On the morning of Thursday, March 25, 2009, I was in the downtown Manhattan studio of ABC News Now, a 24-hour news program on television and the internet that is viewed by millions of Americans every week. I was interviewed about my new book, Making Change: Tips from an Underage Overachiever, and about the work my friends and I have done to make change. More importantly, the interview was LIVE on the air, and is available for viewing here. I hope you enjoy it!
Friday afternoon, I will be featured on Teen Kids News, a weekly news program made for youth, by youth. It is shown weekly on stations throughout the United States. During the interview, I will be talking about how kids can work together to make change in their communities and around the world – and having fun while doing it! I hope it will have a strong influence on teenagers watching all over the country. The show will also be available on their website. Check it out!
The main point I want to make this week is that each and every one of you have the potential to make a difference. I also want to remind people that we can’t afford to wait. The problems that face our world are too large to ignore. It is vital to take action now. Not tomorrow, not next month, not next year – but right now!
On a more personal note, I hope to do some sight-seeing in New York as well, and there’s so much to see in one of the greatest cities on earth. Like Frankie says, “If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.”
Warm Regards,
Bilaal Rajan
